What I Learned After Living 5 Years in Germany

Living in a foreign country is a transformative experience. It immerses you in a new culture, language, and way of life, and Germany was no exception. After spending five years in this beautiful country, I can attest that the lessons I’ve learned have shaped me in profound ways. From the language to the culture and everything in between, my time in Germany has been a journey of self-discovery and personal growth.

Language is Key

The first and perhaps most obvious lesson I’ve learned during my time in Germany is the importance of language. While it’s true that many Germans speak English, especially in urban areas, integrating into the culture and truly understanding the people requires mastering the German language.

The journey from stumbling through basic phrases to holding meaningful conversations has been challenging but immensely rewarding. It opened doors to deeper relationships and gave me a profound sense of belonging.

Punctuality Is a Virtue
